What is Physical Activity?

Physical activity is when you move your body to have fun and stay healthy. It can be anything that gets you up and moving! When you run around the playground, play tag with friends, dance to your favorite music, or even walk your dog, you’re being physically active.

Being physically active is really important for your body and mind. It helps your muscles grow stronger, keeps your heart happy, and can even make you feel more cheerful. When you’re active, you’re taking care of yourself in a fun way.

So, whether it’s playing sports, jumping rope, riding your bike, or even helping out with chores at home, all these activities count! Remember, being active is not just good for you, but it’s also a lot of fun. Keep moving, playing, and having a great time!

Why is Physical Activity important?

  1. Keeps Your Body Healthy: When you’re active, your body gets stronger and healthier. It helps your muscles grow, makes your bones strong, and keeps your heart happy. This means you can run faster, jump higher, and play longer without getting tired quickly.

  2. Good for Your Mind: Physical activity isn’t just good for your body; it’s great for your brain too! It can help you focus better in school and make you feel happier. When you’re active, your brain releases special chemicals that make you feel good and reduce feelings of stress or sadness.

  3. Helps You Sleep Better: After being active, you’ll likely find it easier to fall asleep at night. Good sleep is super important for growing kids like you because it helps your body and mind rest and recover.

  4. Teaches Teamwork and Skills: Many physical activities and sports require playing with others. This teaches you how to work as part of a team, share, and make new friends. You also learn new skills, like kicking a ball or swimming, which are fun and useful.

  5. Keeps You Fit: Regular physical activity helps you stay fit and maintain a healthy weight. This is important for your overall health and helps you feel more energetic throughout the day.

  6. Fun Way to Explore and Learn: Being active is a lot of fun. It’s a great way to explore, try new things, and see what you enjoy and what you’re good at.

What you need to aim for?

  1. Be Active Every Day: Try to do some kind of physical activity every day. It could be playing outside, riding your bike, or even dancing in your room. The more you move, the better!

  2. Mix It Up: Doing different kinds of activities is great! You can run, jump, swim, dance, or play different sports. Each activity helps your body in its own special way.

  3. Play with Friends: Activities can be more fun with friends or family. You can play team games like soccer or basketball, or even have a race to see who’s the fastest.

  4. Challenge Yourself: Try to learn new things. Maybe you want to learn how to skate, do a cartwheel, or hit a baseball. Practicing and getting better at something feels really good.

  5. Stay Safe: Always remember to play safely. Wear helmets when riding a bike, put on sunscreen if you’re out in the sun, and always have an adult around when swimming.

  6. Have Fun: The most important thing is to have fun! Choose activities that make you happy. When you’re having fun, you’ll want to keep being active.
